Life, The Universe, and Everything...

This used to be a collection of random information and opinions. Subject to change at any time. However, as I'm seeking new opportunities and  am teaching kids in elementary and middle school who visit the site, I've toned it down for public consumption by those who may not share my views. To see the political stuff, visit sites like DailyKos, where I post as MakeChessNotWar. I've left the T-shirt art up because many people seem to like it. If you don't have strong progressive views, don't bother looking at it.

I remain politically active in the SF Bay Area, and most of my opinions are strongly progressive. I am a patriotic American who wants to see the liberties and values of our nations founders restored, replacing the evil of the Bush administration. I believe that the entire Bush administration should be charged with war crimes, convicted and sentenced to the maximum available penalties. Because of recent health issues, including amputations, I am not present at as many protests as I ised to e.

In 2007-8 I was involved the Draft Gore movement. I served as Press Officer and was  on the Steering Committee of America For Gore.

Google can be used to find many other articles but those give an indication of what I do. I do not mix these activities with my teaching and welcome students of all religious and political backgrounds, of any faith or sexual orientation. I am a faithful believer in American tolerance that is the foundation of our nation.

I act as press consultant for many grassroots organizations and am involved with protest activities for civil rights in San Francisco.

I'm no more or less radical than the people who founded our great nation.

  • Fun to watch, but no fun to talk about.

Chess Politics and Controversies

  •  Bobby Fischer was one of the greatest chessplayers of all time, but his mind is diseased. He is mentally ill, and we should forgive him for his actions and comments, as they are not those of a rational human being. He hasn't harmed anyone. Still, he did violate the law, and we shouldn't be angry with those responsible for enforcing it. Had the boycott been not Serbia, but South Africa in the apartheid days, many of those requesting a pardon would think twice. Fischer has created his own problems, there is no conspiracy against him. Let us ask for forgiveness, and hope for a plea bargain that might lead to him getting the help he so desperately needs to deal with his illness.
